FAHRENHEIT 451 RESEARCH PROJECT Compare how technology functions in modern society to how it functions in the novel, and determine how technology affects the quality of life in each.Modern In the 1950s TV was introduced to about half the world. Prior to the 50s only a select amount of countries had television available. By the end of the 50s almost the entire western hemisphere had television. TV struggled to be a mass media for its time in the 1950’s.In the year 1952 for the first time in history, television broadcasted news that was available everywhere about Republican and Democratic conventions live from Philadelphia to the rest of our nation. This event was very important in Television history. Between 1949 and 1969, the number of homes with only one TV set rose from the low amount of a million to 44 million. The amount of money paid to these commercial TV stations and the networks rose to healthy $58 million to $1.5 billion. Today’s TV has made a very big step from its original purpose. It now will have networks that broadcast mostly everything in the world. There will always be something special for whatever you’re interested in now with the many stations that appeal to different target markets. There will always be a place to watch whatever is on your mind whether it is just to get the news or just take your mind off of daily stress by watching a funny program.Phones have made very good progress in the lines of communication. We can have our phones make calls, complete tasks, and even give us answers to our questions just by talking to it. At the rate we are going we won’t even have to hold our phones to use them, just use voice commands. In the 1950s and 60s, television news produced perhaps some of its finest performances. Edward R. Murrow exposed the tactics of innuendo and unsubstantiated charges that Sen. Joseph McCarthy used to exploit the country’s fear of Communism. The televised debates between Kennedy and Nixon were credited with giving JFK a slim election victory. The year 1950 was a technological wonderland in the life of this then 11-year-old. Two major events – one video and one audio – changed the entertainment landscape in the Frassinelli household forever.Politics that the wives that are talking aboutEntertainment through Tv shows and comedies and TV series Up until the 1950’s headphones were created almost exclusively for communications purposes. The next big innovation in headphone design came after the second World War, with the onset of stereophonics and the popular commercialization of the technology. Record label EMI pioneered stereo recordings in 1957 and the first commercial stereo headphones were created a year later by musician and entrepreneur John Koss, founder of the Koss Corporation. In the introduction of the novel, the author already mentioned about the future: “…we need to illuminate a path we joe pr we fear humanity will take.”Tv is the opponent in the novel because it’s have to be responsible for replacinng literature, knowledge and curiosity. Furthermore, it’s also responsible for replacing family, friendship, and any sort of reality. We can see that television reigns supreme in the future because of the “entertainment” that it offers. People are more entertained when they don’t have to think or so the story goes. Tv aside, technology is the government’s means of oppression, but also provides the renegade’s opportunity to subvert. TV is one of the main reason why the mariage of Montage fall. ” I can’t talk to the wall becuase they’re yelling at me. I can’t talk to my wife, she listens to the walls”. Bradbury views TV as a wall and a wall is define as “a continuos vertical brick or stone structure that encloses or divides an area of land” we cna see that “land” here is their relationships where the wall is the TV.
