If you happen to run Windows 8.1 or even Windows 7 and you would like to upgrade, the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool is probably the most user friendly way of getting your software up top. By using Windows 10 Installation Media Tool you are also able to upgrade your Windows 10 experience easier than ever. Today we’re going to run you trough the whole process.
Simplifying your life – the Windows 10 Installation Media Tool
First thing you need to do is to check (if you don’t already know) weather you need the 32 or 64-bit version of software. You do this by typing “system” in your Windows Search option, and the by clicking on “settings”. A window will appear telling you weather Windows is operating the 32 or 64-bit version.
Next, you have to download the Windows 10 Media Tool. You do this by accessing Microsoft. At about the middle of the page, you will find a “Windows-blue” button telling you to “Download tool now.” This will help you download a Windows 10 ISO file that does not require a product key. The Windows 10 Media Creation Tool is useful for a number of operations such as downloading Windows 10, Windows 10 Pro, Windows 10 Pro N and Windows 10 Home (with variations such as Windows 10 Home N and Windows 10 Home Single Language).
After you download the appropriate version (32-bit or 64-bit) the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool will generate two directories on your appropriate system partition, namely $WINDOWS.~BT and $Windows.~WS.
As always, make sure that all the information that is essential for you is stored away somewhere safe on your computer, just in case it all goes wrong. Then click to run the tool. A screen with two options will pop-up.
You can either opt for Upgrading your PC or for creating installation media for another PC. If you select “Upgrade this PC now” a screen will appear asking you to select the language, type or architecture of Windows you want (Home, Pro etc.) as well as that all important version of Windows you need to access (32-bit or 64 -bit). Just click next and, after some minutes, enjoy the Windows 10 version you have selected.
If you want to create media for another PC, a new window will appear, asking you weather you would like to create the necessary media on a USB flash Drive or on a DVD that will later be “burned” with the appropriate ISO file. Take note of the fact that if you decide to use a flash drive you will need at least 3 GB of space on it.
Of course, you can always go back in case of need. As soon as you click next however, the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool will start downloading the program. During this stage, you can continue to use your PC and just let the software do its work.
After some downloading, your tool will then start to create the Windows 10 Media. Once all the media finisher downloading, you will be able to chose 2 options. The first one is to open and run the ISO file downloaded. The other option is to burn it onto a DVD. If you Run the ISO file you will have your fresh upgrade to Windows 10. You can also use this file to upgrade your own sistem. If something happens during the installation process, do not despair. Just start over the installation process using the ISO file and it will work out eventually.
After using the Windows 10 media Creation Tool, you might want to start personalizing your Windows 10 experience. You can do this by accessing the Ultimate Windows Tweaker.
